Anxiety & Phobias
Anxiety & Anxiousness: I've worked with lots of clients who have anxiety issues, and in my experience there's always a process involved, like a recipe, whether it's known to the client or not. In an ideal world it'd just be a case of saying "Stop It!" and voila, problem gone. In reality however, the way the client is doing the anxiety process is usually out of awareness and so it can appear almost impossible to shift it yourself. It's because of this that it's useful to work with someone experienced in dealing with Anxiety, knowing what to look for and what elements to change. There is often a good amount of rehearsal of the anxiety performed by the client, often about the anxiety itself. I use a combination of IEMT, Provocative Therapy, NLP & Hypnosis for this as appropriate, to great effect.
Phobias: Different from anxieties in that it is an 'On/Off' switch, and often is a seemingly irrational fear. I recall an American talk show where there was a Olive-phobic person on the show. Whip out a jar of Olives and she would literally scream and run off the stage. When her case history was unpacked, she divulged that as a child she'd seen a dead family member in their casket, and recalled how his dead eyed looked like Olives. So her brain had made the connection Olives=dead person's eyeballs. If every time I saw an olive I felt like I was seeing dead folks' eyes I'd run off screaming too. If you never had a concept of 'glowing red hot coal' you might think "ooh, pretty red shiny thing, let's feel it!" I guarantee you'd only ever do it once though. It's the same with a phobia. From the brain's perspective the stimulus, the 'thing' - whether it's a lift, spiders, trains, whatever, equates to extreme danger in the eyes of the phobic client. I use an extremely robust method to deal with phobias and because of this, get great good results, fast.
Addictions
Addiction can come in many forms, and isn't just limited to addiction to substances such as Cannabis, Cocaine, Heroine and other drugs. We've all heard about the rise of other addictions such as Pornography, Shopping, Video Games and the Internet. There is nearly always both a psychological element as well as a physical element involved in the addiction and Hypnosis and NLP can be extremely effective in creating more useful behaviours, coping strategies, boosting self control and motivation but more importantly helping to address the root cause of the addiction as well.
